COVID-19 School Expansion

Updated: Apr 7, 2023

We have been operating the school "as normal" this year. Everything has been going really great (especially with the awesome new desks!!!) However, as the Zambian government has been putting pressure on people and organizations to follow the regulations of COVID-19, it has created a problem.

These regulations have hit the poorest communities the hardest as they often don't even know what's going on. About a month or so ago, a health inspector visited the school and although they respect what we are doing there, they are mandating social distancing or possible school closure.

We were already planning on adding an additional building this year around #GivingTuesday in December, however the COVID-19 regulations has made this issue more of a pressing priority. Building one more building, the same size as the existing one, would satisfy the health inspector and it was already needed anyway.
